Pintor valenciano de la Transición
Enric Alfons: a socially-committed painter beyond borders
For Enric Alfons the Global South was a reality close at hand. On his journeys to countries such as Morocco, Albania, Turkey and Syria, he captured emotions and landscapes in his sketchbooks and little wood panels.
He painted between moments of silence and of encounters, and then turned those memories and travel notes into large-format works back in his studio.
The goal of his socially engaged painting was not only to depict but also to accompany. Art became a form of paying testimony, of crossing borders and lending visibility to struggles and situations that are often hidden, forgotten and ignored.
