The Promociones Culturales del P.V. project was initially conceived as an exhibition dedicated to the artistic activity of recent decades by artists born or residing in the Valencian Community. However, it ultimately took the form of this book-catalogue, which also includes texts by prominent critics of Valencian art.
The introduction praises the initiative, noting that, together with the critics responsible for selecting the artists, it undertook the task of creating a census that is both open and selective, offering a broad overview of the Valencian art scene. At the same time, it encouraged aesthetic and historical reflection and offered an analysis of the influence of various movements on the region’s artistic culture.
The text dedicated to Enric Alfons, written by Juan Ángel Blasco Carrascosa, highlighted the artist’s gaze on the Arab world, the themes he explores—fetitxes and masks—and the material, chromatic, stylistic and conceptual qualities of his work.
