Between 1992 and 1993, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) undertook a joint exhibition project focused on the ways each of their art schools approaches and understands printmaking.
The first phase took place in December 1992 at the UPV exhibition hall, with a show titled Encuentro de dos mundos: Obra Gráfica Monumental [Encounter between Two Worlds: Monumental Graphic Work], featuring the work of artists and teachers from UNAM, a university with a long-standing tradition in printmaking.
A year later, in December 1993, the second exhibition, Encuentros en el zócalo, obra gráfica de artistas valencianos [Encounters in the Zócalo: Graphic Work by Valencian Artists], was held again at the UPV exhibition hall and, at the same time, thanks to multiple editions of each work, also at the Academy of San Carlos at UNAM.
A total of 47 teachers from the Painting, Sculpture and Drawing departments of the San Carlos School of Fine Arts at UPV, with the support and guidance from the printmaking department, presented their work in the exhibition. Among them was Enric Alfons, who exhibited Jardín.
