CIMAL. Cuadernos de cultura artística was a leading journal dedicated to contemporary art, featuring monographs on artists, interviews, theoretical essays and reflections on art and culture from a critical perspective.
In issue no. 24, the magazine devoted a significant section to the work of Enric Alfons, focusing on his latest series through the essay Máscaras africanas en la pintura de Enric Alfons [African Masks in the Painting of Enric Alfons], written by Juan Ángel Blasco Carrascosa. The text centred on a joint exhibition by the painter and the writer Ferran Cremades i Arlandis, titled Deessa Màscara, "around the theme of feminine eroticism based on their time spent in the Maghreb."
The article included ten photographs, both black-and-white and colour, of the masks featured in the exhibition. These images were complemented by works from Alfons's earlier Fetitxes series, providing a contextual framework for a better understanding of his artistic evolution.
